Starting a business is difficult to start all by yourself, a lot of the time, we need business partners to work with us. When looking for a business partner, many people only care about the profit of money. This should not be the case.
In choosing our partners, we must be careful to avoid people with bad intentions. These are 5 types of start-up partners that are ideal to get you started.
Share the same interests
When looking for a partner, meeting like-minded people can be the best thing you can do. Having a common vision and goal will help your company’s core thrive and stay together for the long haul. Otherwise, conflicts in the middle of cooperation are likely to lead to losses or even failure.
Reliable and responsible
Being with an honest and responsible partner can make the process of starting a business easier. They will try their best to do their job and watch their credit instead of doing it halfway.
Open-minded
Open-minded people are more likely to listen to others and give a more objective view. Therefore, working with open-minded people helps to communicate easily.
Stick with the company through thick and thin
In business, we make a lot of choices and judgments. We might make a wrong decision due to lack of experience. Therefore, it is important to choose a good business partner who is willing to share the burden no matter whether in good or bad situations.
Solve problems
Because we can’t be good at everything, business partners not only provide financial support but also legal, operational, and managerial support to solve problems for us.
Cube Co-Working will be your ideal business partner! We provide good office solutions and storage solutions for you to better manage your inventory. We also allow you to enjoy working in a comfortable workspace to stimulate your creativity and boost your productivity.
One of the advantages of renting a co-office is that the tenant does not have to pay utilities and maintenance fees, and does not have to spend a fortune on furniture, such as desks and office chairs. However, with some planning and creativity, the tenants can still customize the office to make it feels like their own.
Check out our list of the most popular items that all co-office should have – they will make a big difference in turning the office into a beautiful and friendly environment.
Office plant
Having a potted plant in the office adds a lot of fun! Green plants make the office look lively and purify the air. Take a break and water the potted plants to give yourself a chance to relax when you are tired of working. When you see a small pot sprout and grow new leaves, it will also instantly improve your mood.
Rack/Shelves
Keep a rack or shelf in your office for decorations, storage, and organizing purposes. Many co-workers will put racks in their private suites to store their items and display their beloved decorations. Keeping your office clean and tidy will help to maintain your good mood.
Air purifier
Many people have an air purifier in their office suite to filter out tiny bacteria and unpleasant smells, especially those who like to eat in the office.
Office Chair
Some co-workers like to sit in their office chairs to feel comfortable and familiar with finishing their work. Although Cube Co-Working has prepared full furniture for customers, you can still change the office chair according to your preferences.
Desk Lamp
Do you prefer warm lighting or cool lighting? Usually, people who work in the creative industry need a particularly moody environment to stimulate creative inspiration. So they will prepare a desk lamp in the office, to create their own favorite atmosphere and space effect.
Decoration
In Cube Co-working, you can decorate or customize your office with the style you like. Some people like to decorate their office with dolls or toys while some people would like a minimalist style of office. You can also decorate your office with some paintings or image frames as long as it makes you happy.

Traditional office working may be a thing of the past, as working from home seems to be an intuitive choice during the height of the pandemic. However, as the office doors start to open again, should you keep working from home, or maybe you’re considering a co-working space as an alternative?
What is co-working?
In the simplest sense, co-working represents a shared place where workers from different companies come to work, meet and devote themselves to their business endeavors. Coworking space is defined by shared tools, services and facilities.
Before the pandemic, the main targets for a co-working model were often remote workers, travellers, digital nomads, independent scientists and independent contractors. However, in the past few years, the demand for co-working has increased significantly across the globe.
The benefits of co-working space
Networking opportunity. One of the most noticeable perks of working in a shared space is the opportunity to expand your professional network. Specifically, you would unlock the potential to build strong relationships with like-minded individuals, maintain new connections and facilitate future collaborations.
Increased creativity and productivity. When you’re working from home, the surroundings can play a significant part in occupying your focus and interrupting workflow, for example, kids, household chores, noisy neighbours, etc. In contrast, when you’re in an environment where everyone is 100% paying attention to their work, it’s very difficult to delay tasks, slack off or procrastinate.
Decreased sense of loneliness and isolation. It is scientifically proven that humans have a biological drive to belong. People seek out social contact not solely because of the life functions it can fulfil, but also because it is inherently rewarding. Human interaction does not only help people to cope with the stress and major changes in life, but also in knowing that one is valued by others, it helps one to forget the negative aspects of life, and think more positively about one’s environment.
Better physical health. Berkman and Syme (1979) found that the mortality rate among men and women with the fewest social ties was more than doubled compared to adults with the most social ties, irregardless of their health behaviours, socioeconomic status and other variables that might influence the risk of death. Additionally, in a 2010 report published by The Journal of Health and Social Behaviour, low quantity or quality of social ties is linked to a host of health conditions such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, high blood pressure, repeat heart attacks, slowed wound healing and the development and worsening of cardiovascular disease.
Greater flexibility. Most co-working spaces allow short-term leases and flexible pay-as-you-go terms, which is beneficial in terms of cost-saving for startups, freelancers or new companies that just entered the market. Furthermore, by sharing the internet, infrastructure and facilities, etc. with other enterprises, co-working is also a very cost-efficient choice.
Evidently, co-working is a great choice when it comes to cost-saving and the well-being of the employees.
After 2 years of turbulence caused by Covid, Malaysia’s social and economic conditions finally show signs of stability. The easing of communal restrictions and opening of borders has allowed SMEs to breathe a sigh of relief and start rebuilding their businesses. One of the hardest hit industries was event management, as they were the first to be impacted and the last to be allowed to operate again. However, with concerts, graduations and weddings now back in full force, these businesses are well on the road to recovery.
Our latest Co-working and Storage customer, Storm Maker Events Production is one of these businesses. They specialize in corporate events like conferences, conventions, and gala dinners. Kenneth Lee, founder of Storm Maker Events shared his journey from the start of the pandemic to now “Overall, the pandemic hit our industry very hard, because all events came completely to a halt. The company had to release all employees as there was no revenue to support the company’s operational costs. As for me, I had to try out some odd jobs to survive through these tough times.”
We wanted to know what kept him going through this period:
“We always believed excellent customer service is the key to success in this industry. Most of our clientele had been with us for years. One such client had been with us for almost 15 years. It is because of this depth of experience within our team, that this exceptional service could be provided across all aspects of the event – from conceptualization to execution. I held on to the hope that this level of service meant that our customers would reconnect with us as soon as things opened up.”
How is the situation of the business today as things are back to normal?
“Things are getting better since May this year as SOPs are becoming more relaxed and client’s worries are reduced.
As you know, events had only been allowed to start up again recently. The momentum at first, was very slow because clients were so worried to hold big scale events, many had also felt overwhelmed by the strict SOPs.”
What was the biggest challenge you’ve faced at work and how did you cope with it?
“The biggest challenge we had faced of course is during this Pandemic. I didn’t give up on this industry as I still had so much passion for it. During this pandemic, it gave me more time to look back at our previous jobs to find ways how to improve them. The fact that our type of event is held at a large scale did not help with this.
I started doing a lot of surveying and idea collecting which I had hoped would be useful when the industries came back, it proved useful so much so that we managed to put them to practice with our last few events.”
What was the situation/issue you were facing that led you guys to come to Cube Self Storage for a co-working solution? How did Cube benefit your company through this recovery phase? “Before the pandemic, we had partnered with one event carpentry factory, where we shared office space with them. But unfortunately, our partner had been diagnosed with cancer while Covid was still widely spreading, this led us to the decision to close down the factory. As we were looking for a self-storage company to store some of our event props, we came across Cube Self Storage which could provide us with what we were looking for.”
Kenneth continues “When our event industry had kick-started again, we also started looking for office space, we had found out that Cube provided this solution while using the storage space. We found the solution comfortable and easy in terms of accessibility.” How is your experience with Cube’s services so far?
“In our experience, Cube provided us with all the necessities which we needed such as helpful staff, comfortable working environment, parking and other amenities we needed to run our business.”
StormMaker productions started with Cube back in 2021 with a medium-sized personal self-storage unit and more recently have taken up a Cube Suite for 2 pax to cater to their business.
How can people learn more about your business/events? “Most of our new business, are recommended by our existing clients. Alternatively, you may find us at our Facebook Page < https://www.facebook.com/stormmakereventproduction/>
Kenneth and his team have shown that perseverance and resilience are the foundation for overcoming the challenges and obstacles in their industry. It clearly will not be an easy journey, but one that is truly worth it for the passion they have for the industry.
Some obstacles fortunately can be easily taken care of – and we can help you do that. Clutter or finding that perfect spot to focus on work can easily be overcome with a self-storage unit or co-working space.

Are you missing your office desk and the friendly faces of colleagues after two years of working from home? You’re not alone! Working alone can leave you feeling a little down and demotivated.
Sometimes, all you need is a change of scenery to get you back on your A-GAME at work.
But, if going back to the office is no longer an option, you can always give co-working a try or rent your own small office!
Here we discuss the Pros and Cons of each;
Small Office Space
PROs:
It’s your space, so you don’t have to share! You can lock the door to your own small office and block out the distractions
It’s great to help keep work and personal life separate
CONs.
You won’t get to see or meet new people (Wait…isn’t this the main reason you are looking for an alternative to working from home?)
Long term leases and high rental costs
Cube Co-Working Space
PROs:
A sense of community
A modern work environment concept (hot-desks, fully equipped kitchen, breakout area, meeting room hire, free-wifi, parking… need we say more?!)
Dedicated desk space for members
It’s friendly on your wallet!
CONs:
Hot-desking means there are no formal reservations. That spot you love in the corner could be already taken by the early bird. (The early bird gets the worm, as they say)
With all that said, it’s not hard to see that there are way more perks to Co-working spaces than a traditional small office space. Why not give co-working a try and see if it suits you?

Frontliners and medical personnel have been hailed as superheroes as they rightfully should be because they have fought tirelessly to keep us safe through this pandemic. For medical personnel to get the education and training they need to save lives, is an important task. This is a task that Laerdal takes very seriously as they are passionate in ensuring that healthcare education is accessible and easy to find.
This month, we are featuring Laerdal, our newest co-working and storage customer as our 1sqft story. We spoke to Azad Suan, Channel Manager ASEAN to get to know more about the Company and what they do.
What does Laerdal do?
Interestingly as we read up on the Company, Laerdal was established as a children’s book publishing and toy company. Laerdal’s pioneering work in soft plastics would go and later be used to produce the first manikin used for resuscitation training, changing the entire course of the Company.
Laerdal started in Malaysia in 2001 under the name Laerdal Hospiline and changed to Laerdal Malaysia in 2008. The business is mainly focused on healthcare education and medical devices. “It is a very niche field of work the team is very dedicated to our mission of Helping Save Lives through the advancement of resuscitation, patient care, and global health initiatives” Laerdal products and programs are used by voluntary organizations, educational institutions, hospitals, the military around the world” Azad explained.
He continued, “we believe in our mission- helping save lives and our goal- helping save 1 million lives every year by 2030 and our vision – No one should die or be disabled unnecessarily during birth or from sudden illness, trauma, or medical errors and therefore training and proper utilization of medical devices are very crucial to realizing this mission.
Laerdal Malaysia has a small and mighty team of 4 based in Cube Co-Working’s office who work very hard to ensure that their products and services reach the right professionals. The Laerdal Malaysian Team Azad explained to us that working in the medical industry, especially in a post-pandemic era has had an impact on how they do, what they do. “In our business, we have seen an increased amount of virtual sales call instead of our face-to-face sales meeting by more than 40% during the pandemic. Our virtual and physical product solution helps our frontliners and healthcare educators get the assistance they need during this time. We set ourselves apart from the competition by staying true to the Company’s mission and vision of saving lives” he further explained.
Why Choose Cube Co-Working and Self-Storage? “We were looking for a co-working space together with a storage solution, as our warehouse being relocated to Singapore. We needed a storage area to keep our demo units and a co-working area for our team to work in we found Cube Co-Working to be the only place that offers this combination. We wanted to have a private office for our team also spacious enough that it can enable us to do the virtual sales visit/demo and easy access to the demo unit’s storage. With Cube Co Working’s private suite and storage unit, we can do both” Azad told us.
Laerdal’s Office Suite + Self Storage Unit gives them all the accessibility and functional space they need.
How Can you Be Contacted?
We asked Azad, how most of their prospective customers find them. He told us that because most of their customers are from the healthcare, and education industries, they get most of their contacts through recommendations and word of mouth. However, we can be easily found through a quick google search of our company name or through Facebook. Laerdal’s website is here https://laerdal.com/us/
At Cube Self-Storage and Co-Working, we take lead from our customers and their individual needs. Just as we have done for Laerdal, we can bespoke a space according to the needs of your company. This month Cube Co-Working, would like to touch on a very basic aspect of people – health and youth. The desire to look young is perhaps something humans have been trying to do for centuries, over the years we have developed various methods to accomplish this. Some opt for surgical procedures, while others try homemade recipes either passed from generation to generation or found easily on the web. But how much do we know about what we are doing to our bodies? Is it equally healthy as it is helping us to look better physically?
We are featuring our Cube Co-Working customer Bio-Young Wellness, a company that provides a solution that not only helps their customers look young but in a way that also focuses on their internal health and wellbeing.
We spoke to Benny who has been a part of their team for a long time and asked him to tell us about the company.
WHAT PRODUCTS DOES BIO YOUNG SELL?
“Our business is focusing primarily on marketing one of Southeast Asia’s most successful anti-aging supplement. BIO YOUNG Wellness Sdn Bhd was established in June 2021 to acquire the ownership of a remarkable anti-aging product and well-established brand Bio-Young.
Bio-Young has been in the market for over 20 years and is perhaps one of the most revered anti-aging supplements that has made more than 500,000 customers happy across Southeast Asia. It is probably the one and only supplement that contains 45 essential nutrients that have been endorsed by a real experts from USA and approved by all regulators both in Malaysia and outside of Malaysia such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Indonesia.”
WHO IS BEHIND BIO YOUNG WELLNESS?
As good as the product is, a company can’t run without the people behind the scenes and Bio-Young is no different, here’s what Benny had to say about the wonderful people that’s making sure their products reach the right hands.
“The shareholders of the company are from Malaysia and Hong Kong, including a professional investment institution specialized in health, computer information and education industries investment.
We have a small team of Digital Marketers, and a designer led by Vivian Yue. We all came from various backgrounds, such as Investment Bank, Creative Designs, Customer Service, Network Marketing and even have a member who had just recently graduated.”
WHY DO PEOPLE CHOOSE BIO YOUNG?
As a company that has hit the ground running for the last 2 decades, it was clear that Bio-Young is growing in leaps and bounds. Their customers come from various different backgrounds with a wide range of health issues.
“They are searching for the right product that could make a change in their life. It is very common in Bio-Young for our customers to establish strong attachment to our brand because Bio-Young is actually more than just a regular supplement. It is also very common for customers to leave a heart-touching testimonials of how Bio-Young become part of their life openly on our Facebook page.
We have customers who have been with us for 10 – 20 years and to maintain this attachment we often reward our customers with special offers, or discounts.
And it’s no wonder that the product is popular, Bio-Young’s drink not only promises an anti-aging solution, but also is good for Diabetic Support, Joints, Muscles, Bones, Multivitamins, Minerals and more.
WHAT ARE THE CHALLENGES FACED AS A BUSINESS?
Like any other business, they have faced their fair share of challenges, even more so in this digital age where there is an overload of information and e-commerce sites. Bio-Young is continuously finding ways to break through these challenges.
“The biggest challenge we are facing would be understanding how Facebook algorithms works and how we try to adapt with the changes in the way Facebook works. There had been multiple occasions where we had our ad accounts being disabled. This had affected our sales.
But we manage to find out ways to go through these hiccups through multiple trials on various methods from building better and credible Facebook pages whilst observing its long ad policies. Seeing these challenges often come and go, we also decided to develop a website to make our brand more credible in the online space.”
He continued “We have recently launched our e-Commerce website which allows our customers to gain better information about the product that we offer and able to make their purchase directly from the website. We also intend to diversify our reach to our customers by implementing omni-channel strategy and generating more exposure to our brand for both online and offline.
HOW HAS THE PANDEMIC AFFECTED YOUR BUSINESS?
COVID-19 endemic contributed more awareness and demand for the product. Our advertising spend was made primarily on Facebook. It coincided with the increase of traffic on Facebook, since more people are spending their time at home on Facebook too. We expect to experience a trajectory growth with demand to our product as we are not only limiting ourselves in Malaysia, we are also looking at introducing the brand in other potential markets outside of Malaysia moving forward, during this pandemic.”
Part of their many efforts to grow their business, they made the decision to operate fully out of a co-working facility. And that is how they found us!
Benny tells us “We are looking for a small start which only requires few members in the team. Our main objective is to drive sales and generate more revenue to the company. Hence, we do not need many portfolios in the company.
We acquired a few fixed desks and a small office which by far is sufficient for us to operate. As we have to pack and send out the products as well being in a space that allows for ease of last-mile delivery is definitely a plus! Furthermore, Cube’s customer services team is very helpful and resourceful which has exceeded our expectations.”
Cube Co-working space is an ideal format for us to kick start this small endeavor as it allows us to share ideas with the other coworking tenants as well, we have actually collaborated with other tenants and joined a health and beauty expo recently which was good as we were able to share costs with each other efficiently. It is nice being a part of a community that is looking to grow together.
Bio-Young is truly a pioneer in their sector focused on ensuring their customer’s health, youth.
Also thinking of getting started with a co-working space, but want to know more first? Speak to one of our staff by emailing cs@cubeselfstorage.my or call 03-7772 9171 and get a free quotation!
